Internet marketer Seed Publicity was started by Nick Stuart-Miller and Robin Bush in 2014 with only a couple of clients and no money. Nick once spent his last £35 on a train ticket to London to make a pitch that he lost.
The pair did not have grand plans, just the ambition to do something their own way, work for interesting businesses with inspiring people and build a company like no other. It was to be built on shared values and respect and care for those they worked with, creating a company they believed in.
They were bold and took big risks, but the pay-off was worth it. In 2015 they hired their first employee. Today the team consists of 30 people and Seed Publicity has become a Google Premier Partner.
Part of Seed's culture is to create an excellent workplace that focuses on mental health and wellbeing, encourages social activities and charity events, facilitates learning and development and fosters a supportive working environment.
Seed Publicity is boosting its attempts to make sure staff remain engaged by introducing “circles”, which give people the chance to be involved in areas of the company new to them.
For instance, any team member regardless of their department, could be involved in the finance, culture or the charity circles and have access to the same information as senior management. The move is part of an attempt to increase transparency and clarity within the organisation.
