An intrinsic part of the DNA at cloud-based software-as-a-service provider, Simitive, is the commitment to demonstrably live its defined values.

These values, which have been carefully crafted to assist in the pursuit of the company’s mission to produce high quality, innovative, ever-evolving software and deliver expert services, are assessed regularly to ensure that both employees and Simitive itself are showing an ongoing commitment to them.

Simitive was founded in Bristol in 2012 with the purpose of using digital technology to improve the management and engagement of staff in universities. Based on the principles of ‘transparency’, ‘fairness’, and ‘support’, the company’s cloud software is used by over 40% of UK universities.

The company has always used its own software and applies the same principles internally for its employees. This includes regular 1-2-1s with line managers and a personal development review every six months. Staff are able to help design a personal development programme and training plans matched to their chosen career pathway.

Simitive is proud to have been shortlisted for ‘Diversity Employer of the Year 2019’ and is a signatory of the Bristol Women in Business Charter. A passionate supporter of flexible working since its inception, almost all staff at Simitive have some degree of flexibility and choice of work location in their employment.

After becoming increasingly concerned about the health and wellbeing of its staff during periods of lockdown, the company launched an employee wellbeing programme including 24/7 access to helplines, free counselling sessions, ensuring holidays and breaks were taken, as well as access to confidential conversations with Heads of Department, HR, and Directors.

In order to keep a culture of collaboration and interest during the pandemic, the company held regular meetings on a company and team level, as well as coffee mornings and fun events such as Taskmaster.
