Established in 1956, Abbeyfield Living Society is a not-for-profit organisation providing sheltered housing, residential care and support to older people across England. With around 65 houses and homes, approximately 900 staff support over 1,000 residents.
Abbeyfield’s strong reputation for delivering high-quality housing and care is built on the dedication and compassion of its people. The organisation offers a wide variety of career opportunities, from carers, house managers and activities coordinators to catering roles and head office positions. Its houses and homes are friendly, welcoming environments, often described by staff as feeling like one extended family, where residents, colleagues and volunteers are closely connected.
Abbeyfield Living Society is an accredited menopause-friendly employer, with policies, resources, and training to support staff during this life stage. It also offers an Employee Assistance Programme, resilience courses, Financial Fitness Fridays, and manager training for leading happy and healthy teams. Additionally, the people and culture strategy outlines the organisation's aspirations as an employer, promoting diversity, inclusivity, and volunteer opportunities within its services.
The Leadership Excellence Programme, accredited by The Institute of Leadership and Management (TILM) and endorsed by Skills for Care, provides leaders with access to a variety of learning initiatives for continuous professional development.
This comprehensive approach towards employee engagement has positioned Abbeyfield Living Society as a supportive and nurturing workplace that makes a real difference in the lives of older people.
