The Coaching Inn Group operates “18 characterful inns in some of Britain's best market towns”, with over 450 rooms on tap to welcome travellers. The Boston-based business started life operating bars, restaurants and nightclubs and is now the country's premier coaching inn operator, focusing on historic buildings that have significance within the local community.

During more than a year of Covid-19 lockdowns across the UK, the business remained committed to supporting everyone on staff both emotionally and financially. Any concerns are dealt with on an individual basis, in recognition that a one-size-fits-all approach can never work in a family-oriented environment.

The group is committed to always being open and honest with team members in the spirit of them being a part of the family. It believes the most important thing it did during the pandemic was to make individual phone calls to employees throughout, discussing new measures being implemented and asking for feedback.

The primary focus of the company is always people, be that team members, guests or suppliers. It believes that a great place to work should be somewhere that you are excited and passionate to come to. Inevitably, however, this has been a year of little recruitment across the hospitality sector.

An employee reward scheme based on business performance offers all team members the chance to stay at any Coaching Inn hotel in the country for just £1, in itself a symbol of how important it is to the company that everyone enjoys their time with it.

Quote from the top...
“We are delighted to have been recognised with our 3 star accreditation. It has been a challenging year, and our number one focus has been our people. To hear their feedback in such a positive light is really rewarding. Each and every team member gives so much to the company, for them to have their voices heard is really important, and to be able to recognise them with this achievement is fantastic. We gained a 2 star accreditation last year, and we have been able to use our team’s feedback to celebrate the positives and use constructive comments to improve and progress. To have done this so successfully and to be recognised as a world class employer is a brilliant achievement.”

Kevin Charity, CEO - Coaching Inn Group
