By cheering on the UK's three million sporting coaches, the team behind UK Coaching takes a key role in keeping communities active. The small charity, based in Leeds, made sure it didn't drop the ball during a challenging year by communicating regularly with its workforce.
Videos, inspirational quotes, and wellbeing advice were shared to keep spirits up as team members, in turn, gave instructors and trainers across a wide range of sports and activities – from grassroots to elite level – a shoulder to lean on.
Learning and development is at the core of the charity's ethos. UK Coaching develops courses that help coaches support the needs and dreams of the people they teach – but the charity's mission goes further.
Everything that team members facilitate is seen as an opportunity to open up possibilities, helping people grow in confidence, get better at what they do and connect through the medium of physical activity. The charity says: “When community leaders grow in confidence and feel better connected, they will achieve amazing things for their local communities.”
Developing new products and services has kept employees busy and motivated. The charity’s Head of People and Culture works has worked hard to develop a new structure for regular meetings and feedback.
