The University ensures that staff and students are supported. Alliance Learning, which is part of the group, provides mental health first aid and mental health, wellbeing and resilience training to all staff. Free exercise sessions, including swimming and pilates, are offered at the Jason Kenny Centre, on campus.
The University traces its educational roots all the way back to 1824, when it opened as one of the first mechanics’ institutes.
Bolton was granted university status in 2005. It has a global student body of about 11,000, including all campuses and affiliates, employing more than 800 people. Its turnover is £83 million, and £110 million for the group, which includes Bolton College, Alliance Learning and the Anderton Centre.
