Worcester City Council is a local authority that has been servicing the residents and businesses of Worcester since 1900. It provides public services to local residents including refuse, parks, crematories, parking, street cleaning, and more.
The Council recognises the importance of taking care of not just its residents, but its colleagues as well. It has a wellbeing calendar where it promotes events throughout the year. Its Employee Assistance Programme and Occupation Health and Counselling provisions help colleagues to take care of their mental, physical, and financial wellbeing. The organisation also has a team of Mental Health First Aiders, and provides free Worcester City Runs tickets and discounted gym memberships.
With a focus on developing relationships between teams, the Council organises regular staff forum activities including quizzes and its WOSCARS events. To keep teams up to date with the Council’s values and strategies, staff briefings take place with senior management on a regular basis, including video calls and regular updates from the Managing Director.
The Council also offers growth and development opportunities and has invested in an e-learning system and further provides individual development as identified as part of employees’ annual appraisals with their managers. Managers also have the opportunity to grow in their role through management modules within the e-learning program.
