From blind driving to duck hearding, socials organised as a thank-you to staff all year round can certainly be considered a bit different at DJH Mitten Clarke.
The award-winning chartered accountancy firm, which is the result of a 2021 merger between Staffordshire firms, Mitten Clarke and DJH, has worked really hard to create a workplace its people enjoy coming into each day.
Interesting socials apart, the firm has a commitment to helping its employees be “the best they can be”, not least thanks to clear development plans and learning opportunities, but through flexibility in their working life and with care for their wellbeing.
The organisation makes a promise to find ways to “keep everyone smiling” throughout the week. It runs ‘Well Day’ Wednesdays, with guest speakers invited to talk about wellbeing, and yoga classes on offer for those feeling particularly bendy. On Fridays the whole firm dresses down and enjoys a 4pm finish.
The benefits on offer at DJH Mitten Clarke are fitting for a company that puts a real emphasis on its people, knowing they will help to deliver the exceptional service that it is know for to its clients.
The company encompasses a multidisciplinary team of over 240 people from its offices in Staffordshire, Manchester and Chester. It offers clients a full business advice service including accounts and audit, tax and employment, business transactions, accounting in the cloud, wealth management and corporate finance.
With a firm commitment to the communities around it, DJH Mitten Clarke runs many charitable initiatives, including food bank donations and shoe box, toy, and Easter egg appeals for the homeless, families in shelters, or those struggling. It also sponsors and supports its local sports teams.
Running a ‘Leadership and Management Academy’ is the organisation’s way of helping its managers reach their true potential. Designed as an informal learning programme, it helps attendees adapt their approach to lead and manage other people well. Supporting main programme is the one-to-one Reflective Mentoring Programme (RMP), where session content is decided by the individual.
Professional qualifications and dedicated study time set aside for their completion are a paid-for benefit available for all learners throughout the business. A one-to-one programme, known as TSD, helps identify development areas for everyone. These are then used for the implementation of career plans and to help employees learn and grow.
