Since its inception in 2007, Homes in Sedgemoor have provided housing management and a range of support services to council tenants on behalf of Sedgemoor District Council. The organisation manages nearly 4,200 homes, including sheltered accommodation for residents over the age of 50 or anyone in need of extra support. Their mission to put customers first and deliver excellence through great people is reflected in its relationship with staff, who are consistently put at the forefront of the services it carries out. Employees were involved in a review of the mission, vision and values two years ago, and candidates are regularly asked how they have applied the company values in their work. Chief Executive Jen Barfoot joined Homes in Sedgemoor in 2015 with over 36 years of experience in social housing. Jen carries out daily ‘floor walks', talking to staff about social and professional matters, and sends each of the team of over 60 staff a hand-written birthday card.
