"Eddies TV" was born during lockdown and has continued ever since. It is a free, online teaching service for disabled people that was set up for those who were not able to attend the Edmund Trust's paid-for day services when they shut during the pandemic.
The 70-year-old trust, which is based in Cambridge, supports people in the east of England with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. Help offered may be in a supported-living scheme, residential care or at home, thanks to the domiciliary care team. The trust also provides respite services.
The trust's mission is to provide lifelong opportunities for people with learning and physical disabilities, complex needs and autism, enabling them to create the lifestyle they choose and be equal and active members of the community. It supports people with a wide range of needs, including complex autism, profound multiple learning disability, acquired brain injury and early onset dementia. It provides a home for life if appropriate.
The trust works with the local authority, its prime funder, and has close links with local colleges and specialist education services.
Placing a focus on the wellbeing of staff, The Edmund Trust offers a suite of resources and external referral programmes to support those who may be struggling, as well as providing all staff with access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
The trusts monthly newsletter also includes a 'Health and Wellbeing' section, with information regarding global events and campaigns such as World Mental Health Day and Go Sober for October.
