Founded in 1983 by Peter Hutchinson, Wyboston Lakes Resort is situated at the edge of the historic market town of St. Neots, and set in 380 acres of rural countryside.
The organisation is staffed by over 250 (mostly local) employees, emphasising the workplace culture that Wyboston Lakes Resort has nurtured, with ‘family values’ at its foundation.
The management team at Wyboston Lakes Resort recognised the effect that the cost-of-living crisis was having on its employees and were conscious that the organisation wanted to ensure that it was providing the right support for its team members.
The organisation provided signposting to help its employees find the support and advice that they needed. It also raised awareness of what discounts were available through the organisation’s benefits platform.
The cost-of-living crisis also coincided with Wyboston Lakes Resort’s departmental and staffing level restructuring. This allowed the organisation to allow people to work flexible hours so that they didn’t have to travel to work five days a week.
Furthermore, the organisation announced 10% pay increases across the board, meaning that for the past four years, pay rates at Wyboston Lakes Resort have increased more than inflation.
The organisation has also introduced its ‘People’s Pantry’ practice where any unsold food at the resort is available for team members to take home. As well as saving employees money on their food shop, this practice has supported Wyboston Lakes Resort’s sustainability goals by reducing waste. The project has also resulted in the organisation winning the IACC Americas Innovation Award.
