Some staff will go to almost any lengths to prove they are a company high-flyer. And for 12 employees at Jobsite that meant taking a deep breath and jumping out of a plane. Back on terra firma, staff at the internet recruitment firm help parachute people into careers, and believe they can make a valuable contribution to the success of the company, giving it a positive score of 81% for this measure in our survey. The parachute jump was for charity, something staff at Jobsite are heavily involved in. The company supports Children on the Edge, which helps marginalised youngsters, and last year it paid for two employees to visit an orphanage in Romania. The large majority believe in Jobsite's principles and values (87%). The company takes its community responsibilities seriously, running a programme visiting schools and offering career advice. It also takes on at least two work experience students each year. Its summer party was held at nearby Goodwood racecourse last year and other events include client golf days, staff go-karting and tenpin bowling. Having teams that are fun to work with scores 82%. Jobsite ensures all vacancies are advertised internally before they are posted elsewhere. With a training budget of £100,000 over the past three years, there is certainly incentive for employees to stay. The helpfulness of the training gets a 75% positive result. The managing director and his board throw lunches to let staff discuss work-related issues and get to know their leader better. It seems to work; the feeling that the boss is doing a great job scores 84%. As well as the summer party there are three other company-wide events each year, culminating in the end-of-year bash in winter. More than £56,000 was spent on company entertainment last year. Perhaps this is why staff tend not to complain of stress-related symptoms, earning Jobsite an 81% result for this measure.
