THIS BROMLEY-BASED mental health charity works with adults across London and the southeast, providing accommodation, assistance for those living in their own homes and projects to get them involved in local activities. A high proportion of the charity's volunteers have experienced mental ill health, and are given training and roles within the organisation — such as being part of interview panels — to enable them to gain skills and confidence. Community Options applies the same philosophy to its employees. New starters attend an induction led by Tracy Simpson, the director. All staff receive regular training, which they agree benefits them (80% positive, which is in second place on our list of small organisations). Every manager is equipped with coaching skills, and colleagues agree that they share important information with them (82%,) and talk to them openly and honestly (86%, both top-three scores). There is an option for flexible working, including home working and job-sharing. All staff get access to an employee assistance programme that offers cash back on treatments such as dental care, physiotherapy and osteopathy.
