Founded in 1958 by Donald Ward, TOG24 is a clothing retailer that specialises in waterproofs, fleeces, skiwear, casual clothing, and a range of other clothing items. Whatever the product is, it has to fit into the organisation’s motto: “Truth Over Glory Everyday”.
TOG24 is still very much a family firm, run by Donald’s sons and grandsons. The TOG24 motto, along with its values of doing what it says - delivering value for money and being inclusive - all underpin how the clothing retailer interacts with its customers and employees.
Over recent years TOG24 has developed its recognition and reward scheme using peer and manager feedback. Internal communication has improved through the addition of its online Benefits and HR platforms, regular internal surveys, employee reps, and using its in-house newsletter – The Whippet - with regular company performance and leadership team updates as well as articles from individual employees.
The launch of a new customised e-learning platform has provided training for employees from induction and includes training in leadership and further skills development.
TOG24’s charitable efforts are also developing with the addition of donation days. Staff have recently been involved in selecting two charities of the year to dedicate their fundraising efforts towards with the company committing to match any funds. The organisation has also begun taking steps towards funding the TOG24 Foundation.

Every April, employees can nominate their colleagues who they feel either always put others first or are having a tough time and are in a need of a boost. The content of the nominations are confidential and employees can win a weekend away, spa days, or an afternoon tea voucher.

The organisation has a history of promotion from within the company, with long serving individuals starting at an entry level position and now occupying a senior role.
