The organisation carries out an annual pay review in March of each year, however the 2023 review was brought forward to November 2022 to help employees during the cost-of-living crisis, and all colleagues had their salary reviewed with the majority receiving a second increase. And, partnering with the Rainy Day Trust charity has enabled further financial wellbeing support, education and grants to be made available to all employees.
Williams also also set up, in conjunction with its employee discounts platform provider, a series of webinars addressing financial literacy, where savings could be made, and tips and tricks to help manage finances.
Williams partnership with the Rainy Day Trust further provides free legal, counselling, mental health, and housing advice to those working in the home improvement industry. The organisation also provides the opportunity for employees to be trained as a Mental Health First Aider, with 13 currently qualified.

Williams set up a Business Improvement Group (BIG), a group of colleagues who meet regularly to discuss ideas for how to enhance the workplace. The current mission is “Improving Communication”. BIG is open to anyone at Williams from any area of the organisation, and suggestions can be put forward by any employee.

Since its overhaul in 2021, the Williams Academy has continued to grow. Current focus is on upskilling and developing Line Managers, and developing Assistant Managers. There has been a rise in the number of promotions - with 7 internal promotions to Assistant Manager, 7 to Branch Manager, 1 to Director and 2 Senior Leadership roles.

The Senior Leadership Team recently held a series of presentations across the organisation highlighting the achievements of 2022 and setting plans for 2023. Additionally, a new working group has been formed of different team members from each department to share information, encourage the breakdown of silos and increase collaborative working.
